Teaching Practice places student teachers in basic and senior high schools across the northern regions. They plan schemes of work, teach, mark, sit in staff meetings and are observed and assessed by university supervisors and by the school’s own mentors.
Many partner schools are rural and under-staffed. The programme is designed so that the school gains a prepared, supervised teacher rather than an extra body to manage — which is why placements are agreed with heads well before the term begins.

How to take part
Placements are allocated by the directorate with the schools of education. Students are told their school and term in advance.
Heads of basic and senior high schools willing to take student teachers should contact DCROP to join the partner-school list.
